Bionix

The Bionix are a sub-species like no other. While their origins are unknown, they have learned to grow and thrive in the world of flesh and bone. Bionix do not belong to any empire but have their own culture and settlements. This does not mean that all Bionix are part of the culture or settlements they originated from. Many have branched out to other places they now call home and have found their own way of life.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their skin replaced with small metal scale-like plates, leaving the only organic parts being their bones, organs, and muscles. They change some internals to clockwork mechanisms. This makes them hairless and appear machine-like. They created their metal bodies using a generic metal that has different shades of color based on the heating process, making them appear unique.

Their eye colors have a wide range, from light to dark tones. They can cause their eyes to glow or pulse faintly, which is used as part of the Bionix cultural greetings. Outside of it being used in their native culture, making their eyes glow has no noticeable effect.

Bionix height varies based on the previous sub-species they once were. While their weight is increased because of their metallic exterior.

Crystal Energy Hearts

All Bionix have specially designed crystal batteries in place of their organic hearts. Therefore, a Bionix sleep cycle differs from the typical organic sub-species. It is also why they have a different connection to energy. Regardless of their culture, Bionix sleep by powering down for eight or more hours to recharge their hearts. Recharging at a slower rate allows them to come out of their power down state unharmed should the need occur.

Life Span

The assimilation procedure of becoming a Bionix shortens their life span compared to other sub-species.

Lost Memories

All Bionix was once a different sub-species and lived a completely different life. However, through becoming one, they lost all memory of their past life. The replacement of their hearts with energy infused crystal hearts caused this. Cutting off and restarting the electrical signal erased all their memories and made them completely forget their past life.

Technology & Bionix

The Bionix are advanced creations, but still have the same needs and requirements as other creatures. If a Bionix loses a limb, they have to use steam mail or go without the limb, just like other creatures. Using Apocrium on a Bionix would regrow the limb without the metallic skin.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Bionix doesn’t have a natural form of reproduction. To keep their sub-species alive, they find other humanoid sub-species and assimilate them. Typically, the Bionix takes only willing subjects, but some groups have been known to assimilate by force. That, of course, is all dependent on the Bionix culture.

By replacing almost all the willing subject’s body parts with clockwork mechanisms, they become Bionix. However, a major side effect of this process is the complete loss of the subject’s memory and a shortened life span.

Genetic Ancestry

Every Bionix originated from another sub-species, which gives them the genetic makeup of two species. That of the construct from being turned into a Bionix and the other from a species of your choosing. This automatically makes Bionix halfoids, which lets you choose from both species’ mutations.

The physical appearance of the character reflects the genetics of the second species. Such as a feline Bionix would have its tail, legs, elongated facial structure, and other characteristics of the feline species.
