Trolls - General Information

When I first came across a troll, I thought it was some cousin to the ape. Its long lanky limbs and narrow, skinny body resembled the physical form of primates. However, upon closer inspection, the resemblance is lost as I found out there are multiple different sub-species of trolls. Each sub-species is unique in appearance, habitat, and ability.

Cave Troll

The cave troll is named as such because it prefers the damp darkness of caves. They love their caves so much, in fact, that they will use bait to lure their prey in just so they don’t have to leave.

The cave troll’s appearance is unique compared to other trolls in that they have wider bodies but still have lanky long limbs. Their skin is extremely tough and stone colored, which they used to blend into the cave walls to surprise their prey. The skin has oddly angled bumps and abrasions that resemble stones.

Swamp Troll

The swamp troll is the ugliest of all the known trolls. They excel in their swamps and prefer not to be disturbed. The swamp troll is very territorial and will hunt down any who enter their territory.

Their yellow tinted green skin has boils and blisters oozing puss all over their body. Their gnarled teeth, which extrude, cause them to drool a toxic green saliva constantly.

Winged Troll

The winged troll—also known as the alpha troll—have large black leathery wings that stretch out past their arm’s length. Their skin is charcoal black with almost no textural detail other than their silver long claws. They typically stand a few feet taller than other trolls and dominate and control any troll found in their territory.

Winged Trolls were created as a first attempt at making the Washian sub-species. The Asherian culture couldn't control creatures, so they relied on cave trolls for their regenerative powers. Instead of creating an all-powerful new species to be protectors of the Asherian culture, they created these abominations.

Universal Abilities

Elemental Vulnerability

Trolls receive double damage from acid and fire damage. Acid and fire damage cannot be regenerated.

Regeneration

Trolls naturally regenerate from damage that is not acid or fire. At the start of their turn, they heal all damage back except for acid or fire damage. If enough damage is dealt in a single round to reduce a troll’s health to zero, they become unconscious for 1d4 rounds.
