The Art of Energetics

Energetics, the science of manipulating and controlling energy in the atmosphere to create an effect. It is the most historically researched subject throughout the world. The capabilities and technology that has come from its study have helped advance the world. From flying ships to steam powered weaponry to prosthetic limbs. It’s no wonder people find energetics to be so fascinating; it’s literally changing the world.

Energetics research is important, but it can be very dangerous if not handled properly. Energy is powerful. Its wild nature makes it difficult to control. Free from boundaries and limitations, it wants to flow. It cares little about what the inhabitance do but also enjoys watching them. It appreciates those who see it as a deity and worship it. Energy longs for people to believe in it, so it will show off with significant acts of power that appear to be a natural phenomenon. All so others will believe in their existence.

So, when drawing energy into your body, mixing it with your essence and releasing it into an effect; energy becomes conflicted. It wants people to be happy and loves that they want to use it but also does not like to be controlled. This makes energy so volatile and conflicting when used. Learning how it flows through not only the atmosphere but also our bodies is important when studying energetics. Therefore, I wrote the laws of energetics hoping people will heed my warning and use caution when using energetics.

Energy is wild. While it is connected to larger sources of energy—sources many worship as deities—mostly, it is independent and free flowing. It has only basic thoughts—like that of a toddler—which is why it can be easily manipulated. The laws help to govern the flow of energy so that only what is needed is taken, leaving the remains to rebuild itself.

Since energy is so wild and free, it's difficult to manipulate. Only the ancient language used by the energy sources has true power over it. Without the Runic language, energy would remain untouched and free. It is my understanding that is why Runic has been called the language of the gods. However, the language is not the only piece required to manipulate flowing energy.

Energy is power and that power can be overwhelming in organic material. There is an oddity to organics and the flow of energy. For a reason I have yet to understand, energy and organic material have a difficult time working together. There are some creatures who have a natural connection with energy, allowing them to manipulate it with limitations. These types of creatures have a genetic agreement with energy. The only creature I have seen that breaks this law is the ancient Cyclops, who I have witnessed not only transmute organics but give it life. What I witnessed was a once in a lifetime experience. I believe to be an extremely rare occurrence as most, if not all, the ancient Cyclops have gone mad. So much so that they have become violent towards others. The ancient Cyclops are a reminder of why organics should not be manipulated with energy, as it is an unnatural and mind-altering process.

What can be done to avoid the same fate as the ancient Cyclops was discovered by one of the first channelers, Furetas of Ashera. She discovered that when a crafted object is held when manipulating energy, the effect can be easily activated through the object. Furetas’s research shows that the physical act of creating the object stores a finite amount of the craftsman’s essence in it. The essence allows the energy to flow more naturally through our bodies and out of the object. As a scientist studying how light energy moves, she called objects that channel this energy “Conduit.” But this was just the beginning of energetics.

Using the runic language and a conduit was only the first two steps to manipulate energy. The third component discovered was the written form of the expelled energy effect. These diagrams show how energy flows, the right amount of essence needed, and other things to make the energy work. These diagrams were later called spells to simplify them for cataloging purposes.

At their core, spells are words that capture energy, combine it with our own power, and store it until we use it. The remaining part of the spell are detailed instructions on how the energy and essence combine in specific ways to get the different effects. Although spells are recorded in writing, they can also be memorized and spoken aloud as if reading from a scroll. Studies have shown that activating a spell through memorization lets the channeler use less essence to manipulate the energy. The science is unknown, but I think it might have something to do with having fewer distractions, letting you focus more on casting the spell. Hence, less essence is required to activate a memorized spell versus reading one from a grimoire.

Through this entire process, the term channeling was coined by Furetas and her colleagues to represent the process. Many cultures and languages now use “channeling” to describe the practice of manipulating energy through spells and a conduit. It even went as far as calling those who channel energy channelers.
