5. Final Watcher

Peering, weeping for a

soul chained to this old, twisted vine,

Gazing upon the world with one keen dead eye,

The other sacrificed a toll to pay,

Crossing a bridge into the unknown fray.

Unbeknownst to me, cursed to observe,

From this crooked perch where I serve,

witnessing dreams unfold in splendor,

Brings a fleeting joy,

bittersweet surrender.

Watching friends below, their lives unfold,

From my darkened tree, my sight has grown old,

 with a waning gleam,

I see souls journeying in realms unseen.

Some were unaware of my silent gaze,

Venturing below in varied ways, Success or failure,

devoid of cheer,

On my twisted vine, I linger here.

Guardian and sentinel, bound to wait,

Longing for release from this eternal state,

Yet, death's embrace remains beyond reach,

For eternal life, no one should ever beseech.

Forever condemned to observe and teach so those never take me on my fate.

Waiting to deny the next from taking this station on this accursed vine.

For I am the one-eyed soul losing mind

But final I'll be,

so, no other eyes will be chained to this vine.
