Turmoil
The channeler sends out a psionic ray towards the target of this spell to connect their minds. A psyche check is required for the target to resist/break the connection. The channeler transmits terrifying thoughts, images, and other distressing effects straight into the target's mind once connected. At the beginning of the target’s turn, they must make a psyche check to break free from the turmoil. Failing the check causes them to take insanity damage based on their insanity level and one mark of insanity. The target is disorientated while under the effects of this spell. The channeler must make an insanity check every other turn while holding the spell because of their strong connection to the target. Failing the insanity check only causes mental health damage to the channeler and does not cause any marks of insanity or the spell to end.
To keep the spell’s effects active, each round the channeler must pay the cost and actions at the beginning of their turn. Failing to pay the cost or if the target succeeds on their psyche check causes the spell to end.
