Thievery Traits

Assassin’s Apprentice

Trait Cost: 4

Perk

You have become one with your shadow and can manipulate it to enhance your attacks. The shadow wraps around your weapon, seeping into the target struck by your attack. Your shadow can also be manipulated to provide increased thievery skill checks.

Shadow Strike

You have a set number of Assassin Dice equal to your reaction instinct. Each die represents 1d6 of necrosis damage or a +1 to your attack. There is no limit on how many dice are used per attack and the damage can stack with a sneak attack. When flanking or making a surprised attack instead of spending a die for +1, you can choose to spend one die and roll it, adding the result to your attack. Only one die can be used and does not stack with other Assassin Dice. Assassin Dice can also increase thievery skill rolls. For every skill tier your reaction instinct reaches, one assassin die can be added to your skill roll, up to a maximum of three dice. Assassin Dice must be added before any roll is made that they can be applied too. Once you have completed a full rest, you gain back Assassin Dice equal to your thievery. You cannot have more dice than your reaction instinct. They can only chain once per use.

Flaw

Only Assassin's Tools

You have unlucky rolls when using weapons that are two-handed, interchangeable, heavy, or ranged (excludes throwing weapons). Interchangeable weapons can be used but only singled handed. You cannot wear heavy armor.

Bonus

You gain Handle Poison and Thieves’ Mark Masteries.

Penance

There is no penance, as the connection with your shadow cannot be severed or reversed. The assassin who trained you in the shadow arts is looking to exact revenge against you for breaking your pact as their apprentice and abandoning them.

Former Silent Guard Inductee

Trait Cost: 3

You were once in training to become a Silent Guard of the Asherian temple. However, because of a reason of your choosing, you left or were kicked out of the organization.

Perk

Gain the Silent Step Mastery at rank two and your hide skill is expertise.

Flaw

One reason you either left or were kicked out was because you would remain so quiet it became easy for you to doze off while on watch. If you stand still or don’t interact with someone or something to keep you busy for longer than a few minutes, you fall asleep. You become easily bored and must keep yourself busy, as you dislike how easily you doze off. Sleeping this way does not provide recovery, as if resting (unless taking a proper rest period). Whenever you wake from sleep, you are groggy and sluggish for twenty seconds, which causes a -1 to all rolls for the duration.
